Prusik Innovations presents to Project Management Institute Regional Conference

Stuart Muir of Prusik Innovations Ltd. presented a session entitled Navigating the Troubled Seas of Too Many Projects at the Project Management Institute Northern Alberta Chapter 2006 Conference A Conference Worth Celebrating.

The following questions were used to enitce participants to the session:

Does your organization seem to have too many projects and never enough resources to do any of them justice? Are you concerned that you might not be investing in the right initiatives? How is your project success rate? Are projects delivering the benefits projected at their initiation? Are your project teams aligned to produce benefits that support your business direction?

Stuart presented an approach to assessing and making necessary changes to the governance of an organization's projects based on his experience with clients ranging from 6 to 40,000 employees. He illustrated the required leadership behaviours using a nautical analogy and Sir Ernest Shackleton's adventure (or misadventure) in Antarctic waters.

This year's event was particularly special as it marked the 25th anniversary of the Northern Alberta Chapter. It included a celebration of the chapter's history and culminate in a 25th anniversary gala. For more information on the conference, go to http://www.pminacconference.com/

Stuart Muir of Prusik Innovations Ltd. presented a session entitled Project Assistants - Training for an emerging career in projectized organizations at the Project Management Institute Northern Alberta Chapter 2004 Workshop Driving Value Through Project Management. One of our clients, Sheila Walker, Coordinator of Business Careers at NorQuest College co-presented with Mr. Muir. Theme of Session:

Companies are downsizing. Departmental assistants seem a career of the past. A new, valuable role is emerging for companies wishing to improve their project success rates at lower costs.

A local college has recognized this trend and developed training based on input from a focus group of successful project assistants. The use of competent project assistants who are skilled in lateral leadership and the use of project tools such as MS Project will increase the return on organizations' investment in team development and staff acquisition.

By attending this session you will better understand the trend toward the use of project assistants and how they can make project managers and project teams more successful.
